Hey guys! I've been on a very good run lately with my skin. If you read my last post, a ton of it has to do with Clarisonic. I scratched my former skincare routine a little more than a month ago and have been working with a completely new one. With the popularity of Twitter skincare threads, I thought this would be a good time to share my skincare routine. HINT: this is honest, and there are some things in my routine I don't think are working for me. Keep reading for all the juicy details!

The photo you see above was taken a week ago and posted onto my personal Instagram account ( This is after I came out of the shower and was getting ready for bed. I have NO makeup, NO editing, NO filters. My skin is not perfect and I do have some spots and a little uneven skin tone, but for the most part my skin is very good.

My problem with the Twitter skincare threads is that people's skin look a little too good for me to believe. It's NATURAL and NORMAL to have flaws in your skin. I think a routine that keeps you for the most part clear (because everyone gets blemishes from time to time) is a winner. That's why I'm sharing my honest routine that keeps my skin in a state that's good enough for me.

I used to be on the Proactiv+ 3-Step system. After 2 years, I felt like my skin was plateauing and not responding as well anymore. I switched it up to this routine instead, and so far I dig it. I calculate the total cost of this routine at the end, which is a reminder of how costly skincare can get. I think it's a worthwhile investment though, this is the same skin you'll have for the rest of your life after all!

My Straight Up Routine:

I use my Clarisonic Mia 1 and Clarisonic Pore & Blemish Gel Cleanser to wash my face. I like it because it is super gentle, and it keeps my face really clear and smooth texture-wise. I go into depth about the Clarisonic in my last post, click here to read more.

After washing, I first use a cotton pad to apply Mario Badescu Skincare's Special Cleansing Lotion "C". This is supposed to be good for more sensitive skin. At first I tried their Glycolic Acid Toner, but I didn't realize it has grapefruit extract, which I'm allergic to. That was a disaster-- hives everywhere.

To moisturize I use Valjean Labs "Hydrate" Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 Facial Serum. This is supposed to be for plumping skin and giving elasticity. I apply this all over my face and neck. In the drier areas of my face, around my mouth and eyes, I apply a little bit of classic Nivea cream.

Extras are not just a pampering thing, they're equally as important as daily routines! Once a week (not all at the same time) I'll use my extra skincare products. One day, I'll use the Biore Nose Strips and gently squeeze out blackheads on my nose. After, I'll apply the Proactiv+ Skin Purifying Mask. On another day, I'll use a My Beauty Diary Sheet Mask to moisturize my face instead of using serum and cream. If I want a bit of fun, I'll use the Elizavecca Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask. That one doesn't seem to do much, but it leaves me with a clean feeling. Anytime I have a pimple forming or one that's already there, I use Proactiv+ Emergency Blemish Relief Spot Treatment. The Mario Badescu Skincare Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater is something I use when I need more moisture through the day or just to refresh. I love the smell and do think that it is effective in giving skin a pick me up (but definitely not super important).

There is one product I'm not too sure about: the Special Cleansing "C" Lotion. Ever since I started using it my skin hasn't been as clear as before when I wasn't. That's one new product I've added that's still in the testing period...
