I'm sure all of you are very familiar with the wire glasses trend right now. I first began seeing the trend when I was in Taiwan about a year and a half ago. Since then, especially in NYC, I see a lot of young people embracing retro wire glasses. Last month, I went in to my eyeglass place to get my yearly pair of insurance-covered glasses. On the top shelf in the display, the free shelf, I spotted a really awesome retro pair and made the move to give them a go.

I liked these glasses for two reasons: they were no extra charge for the frames and I thought I could be trendy for cheap. I am nearsighted, so these are prescription for me. I know there are people out there who wear glasses as purely a fashion statement, I suggest you try Forever 21 for pairs like this. Otherwise, if you need prescription glasses you can check out your normal eyeglass shop.

I was worried this would be hard to pull off, and in a way they are. I like to style them so the frames are trendy, not strange and out of place. I wear this pair when I have a good outfit and look planned out, in class I wear my other standard black frames because I'm in sweats and messy. My stylized look for these glasses is usually a streetwear thing or like a really urban look. Here, my angle is more artsy. I'm not that artsy, but I dig the style sometimes. My friend described these as my "Napoleon Dynamite" glasses, I totally agree!

For makeup, I like to keep it clean and simple, with an emphasis on lips rather than eyes.

Here's a picture of my full outfit. The top is from Urban Outfitters, it is a men's Feathers long sleeve tee with a left shirt pocket. The pants are straight legged denim jeans from American Apparel, which I cuff at the ends. I actually snagged both of these on sale (and was really happy about it). The top was $10, and the jeans came to $20.
