Highlighter is arguably the most crucial part of a makeup look right now. Everyone knows the importance of a fine, popping highlight. Honestly, when someone, particularly on Instagram, has a really glossy highlight streak on their cheek WOW does it steal the show. Here's my tip on how to really make your highlight POP. If you think you can figure out what that tip is by just looking at the cover photo, think again. My secret weapon that makes the process complete will only be revealed if you keep reading!

Highlight is the last face makeup product that I apply before moving onto my eyes. After completing foundation, bronzer, and blush, I make sure my highlight is stand-out and glowing by taking three steps. I don't really do this on the daily, this is more like a special occasion trick.

First, I use a little bit of liquid illuminator. My recent new love is Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in "Sunlight". Next, I brush over that using a powder highlighter and a dense brush. In most cases, the powder highlighter is E.L.F Baked Highlighter in "Moonlight Pearls". Now here's the final step: using a small, dense eyeshadow brush, I apply only at the highest points of my face where I want peak reflection a loose metallic eyeshadow. I like using something with warm undertones on my skin, although sometimes I will swing for silver. My favorite to use is Madison Street Beauty's Loose Mineral Eyeshadow in "Sunset".

Here's a really important part: you will look like an overly glazed donut if you stop here. The trick to making it pop but still not look silly is to apply a little bit of powder in your skin tone over it. This might seem counterproductive, but trust me on this.

VoilĂ ! Now you know my secret! This is a sure way to be certain your highlighter will be absolutely eye catching. Remember to pick highlighter shades that work with your skin tone, they can range in impact and visibility!
