HOLIDAY MAKEUP HAUL

Can you believe the holidays are over? As we march further into the new year, I figured I would share my holiday makeup haul. It's not very much quantity wise, but it's a few nice pieces that I've wanted for a while. I'm really excited about using all of them, keep reading for photos and a breakdown!

I've been hanging out at home back on Long Island for the holidays. The great thing about being on holiday is that I have a lot more time right now to focus on Amourtera. During the semesters, I find myself so swamped with work and keeping up with friends that sometimes blogging has to take a backseat. I hope frequent readers notice that I have reformatted the layout, I want to take this blog with me into the future. The new setup is a lot more modern, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

My little holiday haul feels like a big blessing to me, especially since I haven't bought makeup in a good while. The lipstick and drops were gifted to me from my sister, the foundation I bought myself. I haven't had a proper foundation in maybe three months since I ran out of my Maybelline one. I have been trying to mix some colors I already owned, but it never did fit my color proper. That's why it feels like such a big thrill to have a foundation that actually matches my color, and this one is my ultimate favorite anyway.

I went to Sephora to pick up a new foundation, and at first all I was going to do was browse some options. This time around, I planned on going to MAC to get matched and purchase a foundation. I have never owned a MAC foundation so I thought this might be my chance. Instead I detoured to Sephora, and the second I saw the Dior section I just got totally sucked in. Dior Forever is my all-time favorite foundation, but I haven't repurchased because it is quite pricey at $50.

I was convinced by my mom to treat myself, she always emphasizes buying quality makeup since it's going directly on your skin. When I bought my first bottle of this at 17 I was matched to the color "Linen". This time around, I was matched to "Light Beige". I don't know why it is so difficult for me to match foundations to my own skin tone, so that's why I always ask an employee to match me.

I am most excited to start using this product. Cover FX Enhancer Drops have been on my wish list since the time they were released. Unfortunately, since they have been so in demand, it has been very difficult to order a bottle. This is actually a late birthday gift (my birthday was in August) but I have no complaints.

I was testing out the drops a few days ago and am absolutely in love. I have the color "Sunlight", and as you can see in the swatch above it is a gorgeous metallic gold. The shimmer is super concentrated, so much so that only one drop is enough for all your highlighting needs. Each bottle costs $42, I know my sister bought this at Sephora. I tried mixing this in with my foundation but it was too much all-over shimmer for me. I prefer to use my finger to lightly dab small amounts on my highlight points. This gives a powerful pop.

Lastly, we come to MAC's Liptensity Lipstick in the color "Smoked Almond". This color is super complimentary on my skin tone, it adds a beautiful warm brown/red. The lipstick is super pigmented and glides on very nicely. All lipsticks in this range have a satin finish, I wear this for hours and it never dries out. My sister bought this at Cosmetic Company Outlet for $12, but usually it retails for $21.

I really like the packaging on this lipstick, I always like when the outside tube is the same color as the lipstick. This makes it easier to quickly pick out the tube in my makeup storage, especially since most MAC lipsticks are all in the same black tube. I think this color is going to become a real staple for me. Already I wear it as a winter neutral, it's perfect for this time of year.
